The short version. OpenCT is a platform that connects you with gatherings run by independent hosts. The host owns their gathering and its refund decision. As a general rule ticket sales are final. The one case where a refund is always due is when a gathering is cancelled in full — then the ticket price is refunded to every paid attendee.
1. Who Decides Refunds
- Every gathering on OpenCT is created and run by an independent host, not by OpenCT.
- The host sets and approves the refund for their own gathering. OpenCT provides the platform and settles approved refunds — it does not overrule a host's decision except where required by law or these terms.
- OpenCT is the venue for discovery, booking and payment. We are not the organiser of the gathering and are not responsible for its quality, conduct or delivery.
2. General Rule — Tickets Are Final
- Once a ticket is booked and paid, it is non-refundable by default. Please book only after you are sure you can attend.
- A host may choose to offer a refund at their discretion — for example if you request one well before the gathering. Whether to do so, and on what terms, is the host's call.
- No-shows are never refunded. If you book and do not turn up, no refund is due.
- Free (₹0) tickets carry no payment, so there is nothing to refund — simply cancel your booking if your plans change.
3. If a Gathering Is Cancelled
This is the one situation where a refund is always due.
- If a host cancels a gathering in full, every paid attendee is automatically eligible for a full refund of the ticket price.
- If OpenCT removes or cancels a gathering (for a policy or safety reason), paid attendees are likewise refunded the ticket price.
- Host-initiated cancellations are auto-approved for refund — you do not need to chase the host.
- A change of date, time or venue is not a cancellation. If a rescheduled time does not work for you, contact the host to request a refund; it is then handled under the general rule above.
4. How to Request a Refund
- Open the gathering in My Tickets and use Request refund, or contact the host directly through the gathering's chat.
- The host has up to 48 hours to review and approve or decline your request. If the host does not respond in time, OpenCT may step in and review it.
- Include your booking ID and a short reason so it can be resolved quickly.
5. When a Refund Is Approved
- Approved refunds are credited to your original payment method, typically within 5–10 business days depending on your bank or UPI provider.
- Refunds are made in Indian Rupees (INR). OpenCT is not responsible for bank or currency conversion charges levied by your provider.
- The convenience / platform fee shown at checkout covers payment-processing and running costs and is non-refundable, except where the gathering was cancelled by the host or by OpenCT.
6. Duplicate or Failed Payments
- If you were charged twice, or money was debited but no ticket was issued, you are entitled to a full refund of the extra or failed charge.
- Most failed payments are auto-reversed by the payment provider. If one is not resolved within 7 business days, contact us with your transaction reference.
7. Chargebacks & Fair Use
Please raise a refund request with the host or with us before opening a bank dispute — it is faster. Fraudulent chargebacks or repeated abuse of the refund process may lead to account restrictions.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be announced in the app or by email at least 7 days before they take effect. The terms that applied when you booked are the terms for that booking.
